Fremantle can confirm two changes to the coaching department, with Adam Read and Todd Curley departing following the 2026 AFL season. 

Read has been senior coach of Fremantle’s WAFL-affiliated Club Peel Thunder since 2024, guiding them to premierships in 2024 and 2026. 

After 19 years with Fremantle, Read will depart to join the GWS Giants as a senior assistant coach. 

Read has been part of Fremantle for nearly two decades, first joining the Club in 2007 as a recruiter before moving into the coaching department in 2012. 

After eight years as a development coach, Read was appointed Peel Thunder’s senior coach at the end of 2023.  

He went on to lead the Thunder to two WAFL premierships (2024 and 2026) and has been instrumental in the development and progression of Fremantle’s youth. 

Fremantle midfield development coach Todd Curley will also depart the Club to explore other football opportunities. 

In his second stint at Fremantle, Curley joined the Club in 2024 as an opposition strategy coach before transitioning to midfield development for the 2026 season. 

Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty thanked both for their contributions to the Club. 

“Following the season comes the time when people move on from clubs to pursue new opportunities,” Brierty said. 

“We can’t thank Adam enough for nearly two decades of passion and enthusiasm in different roles with the Fremantle Football Club. 

“It was great to get Todd back to the Club for a couple of years and he has been highly valued by our development players down at Peel.” 

“We wish them both all the very best as they continue their football journeys.” 

Fremantle will now work with Peel Thunder to commence the process for appointing a new senior coach.
