De Boer, who has been a revelation since being moved onto the ball this season, said Fyfe was a class act.
“He’s worked phenomenally hard both in the gym and with midfield coach Mark Stone,” de Boer said.
“He’s a great addition to have in the midfield.
“Before he went down with the shoulder he was doing very well in there and to have him back, it will be interesting to see what we can put together.”
De Boer said he didn’t believe Fyfe’s presence would drastically impact on his own game.
“Obviously we’ve got to fit him in somewhere. He’ll filter through the midfield and up forward as well because he’s got such a good leap and contested mark on him,” he said.
The 22-year-old said the stoppages would be vital against a West Coast team that possessed star ruck duo Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.
De Boer played with Naitanui for Western Australia in the 2008 Under 18 National Championships.
“We always knew he was going to be a great player and we’ll need to negate his influence,” he said.
But he backed Freo big man Jon Griffin to do the job against the young Eagle in Saturday’s Carlton Mid Derby.
“I think Jon Griffin has been great and has been putting his best foot forward,” de Boer said.
“He just has a red-hot crack and we’ll expect that from him on the weekend.”
On his own game, which has seen him average more than 20 disposals and seven tackles per game since moving to the midfield in round 10, de Boer was typically humble, refusing to admit he had had a great year.
“I’ve just been contributing,” he said.
“I’m happy to go up forward and tackle and chase. I’m happy to go down back as well and just help out wherever I can. Wherever the coach puts me I’ll do my best.
“Hopefully I can stick around because this team is going places.”
