Josh Simpson, Tanner Smith and Max Duffy worked the first day of their new job today - as AFL footballers.

First on the agenda this morning was a team meeting with the coaching staff and playing group.

Each draftee was introduced to their new teammates and had to answer some hard-hitting questions. They passed with flying colours!

After their introductions they were put through several medical screenings with club doctors and physios.

Lunch was served at 11.30am where they joined the rest of the players to feast on a delicious lunch of lasagna and salad.

They spent the afternoon in a media education session, which was followed by their first press conference with the Perth media.

The new recruits had a lot to take in, but if first impressions are anything to go by, they have settled in well and are eager to get into the ‘football’ side of things.

“The first thing I noticed was that there was a lot of purple,” Max Duffy said.

“It was really good to meet everyone and I’m just really looking forward to getting into training and developing as a player.”

The 19-year-old said he hoped today was the first of many more days spent at the club as an AFL footballer.

“It was good to meet the other draftees and to start to get to know them a bit,” he said.

“Hopefully it’s the start of a lengthy relationship.”
