Andrew Brayshaw has shed some light on two of the nicknames you might hear for him out on the training track during his recent appearance on fremantlefc.com.au's Pre-Season Show.

The most common nickname is ‘Snee’ which often rings out around Victor George Kailis Oval when the emerging midfielder is in possession.

Brayshaw said that it was a nickname that started when he gave his family an awful fright as a child.

“We used to play hide and seek when Dad would come home from work,” Brayshaw said.

“One day I hid in a suitcase and I fell asleep and no-one could find me.

“They thought it was pretty serious as no-one knew where I was. Eventually they saw the suitcase under the bed and pulled it out and I was there asleep.

“It was ‘Sneak’ originally, as I sneaked around and it just became ‘Snee’. It started with family, schoolmates and now some of the boys at the club.”

The other nickname seemed less of a moniker and instead just a bit of banter between his house and teammates Luke Valente and Stefan Giro.

When Freo posted on Instagram asking for fan questions for Brayshaw, Valente and Giro crashed the comments.

Brayshaw said ‘Hamdy’ evolved from a trip to the shops.

“Luke thinks he’s a bit of a comedian. Before I moved in with him, he would only get his meats just from the pre-packeted stuff,” Brayshaw said.

“When I took him to the deli section, he was a bit shocked. I just got some ham for the home-made pizzas we were having and he found that really funny.

“There’s not much else to it. They’re just trying to get up ‘Hamdy’ because I love ordering ham at the deli. It’s not great really.”
