After being overwhelmed by the generous response to the club’s FOREVER Project, senior Fremantle staff Justin Longmuir and Peter Bell hit the phones in a bid to thank Freo members for their support.
Fremantle launched the FOREVER Project in May, which has the aim of securing the club’s future while providing a number of incentives to members to remain on board for 2020.
The calls followed on from Andrew Brayshaw and Reece Conca a week prior, who took the time to reach out to those who had pledged their 2020 membership to the club.
Longmuir told one FOREVER Hero that he was delighted to have a large number of members to call.
“Thankfully, it’s long a long list,” Longmuir said.
“As you would know, we’ve been incredibly humbled by the support of our members. It’s a long list we’re trying to get though to.
A 19-year member, John Garland returned the thanks to Longmuir.
“Let me just say, you guys can be humbled but I think what you’re bringing back to the club is humbling in its own right,” Garland said.
“It’s nice to see you come back, I appreciate what you’re doing at Fremantle.”
In a call to Paul Comenos, Bell passed on a message he would like to deliver to all of Freo’s members.
“The reason for the call is that I’ve just been made aware of your unbelievably generous pledge to the club and I just wanted to ring and thank you for that on behalf of the club,” Bell said.
“I know the players have been blown away when they heard of the generosity of our members and supporters, people just like you.
“There’s been a real buzz around the playing group when they hear these stories, so I just wanted to personally extend my thanks to you.”
Bell said the players were motivated to work hard and repay the members’ faith.
“We’re very excited about the challenge of the hub (on the Gold Coast) and we know we’re on the right track,” Bell said.
“Particularly when we have supporters like you, with such generosity, we’re really eager to repay that and look forward to doing that both this year and in the years to come.”
