We are glad Wiz is back: Carr
Matt Carr expressed the delight of his team mates with Jeff Farmer returning to training with Fremantle on Monday.
Carr, who will celebrate his 150th AFL appearance this Friday night against Collingwood, said the playing group was elated to have Farmer training with them.
“I’m really excited,” Carr said.
“I’ve been missing him around the place so it’s great to have his vibrant attitude around.
“He’s a great person to have around the club. He’s a nice guy, he’s polite (and) he cracks funny jokes.
“He sets a good standard around the club with his work ethic and training. When he’s at training he trains hard and sets a great example for all the players when he’s in and around the club.
“It’s great to see him back at the club.”
Farmer returned to training on Monday night after meeting with Club President Rick Hart, CEO Cameron Schwab and General Manager Football Operations Robert Shaw on Monday morning.
“The meeting this morning was extremely positive,” Mr Hart said.
“The details of what was discussed at that meeting will remain confidential between the club and Jeff.
“Suffice to say that Jeff has demonstrated that he has undertaken significant steps to ensure that he is and will remain a valuable member of the playing group, the club and the community.
“Jeff not only accepted the sanction imposed on him at the time but he has been thoroughly professional and committed to addressing all issues as required.”
With Carr saying the playing group was boosted with the return of Farmer to team training, the team’s focus turned to Friday night’s clash against the Magpies at the MCG.
In what will be a rare Friday night appearance at the home of football, Carr said the group was looking forward to playing on the big stage against the fifth placed Magpies.
“It’s exciting, I’m really looking forward to it,” Carr said.
“We’re playing against a side that’s in form and playing some good footy.
“Our record is reasonable at the ‘G and we really enjoy playing there.”Aiding the club’s preparations for the clash is a handy seven day break between matches.
“You certainly notice the difference when you go in with a six day (break) versus seven day,” Carr said.
“Often you’re still a little bit sore (after a six day break).”
Friday night’s clash will be telecast into WA from 7.30pm on Channel 7.
