Fremantle forward Des Headland is to undergo surgery on his injured right knee.

The procedure will result in Headland being out for eight weeks. General manager of football operations Chris Bond said today that Headland would be placed on the club’s long-term injury list.

“With the medical advice we have Des will be back ready for senior football by round 15,” he said.
