WAFL players Blake Broadhurst, Kyal Horsley and Brad Dalzeill will get a taste of what life as an AFL footballer is like after they were granted permission from the AFL to join Fremantle's pre season training programme.

Broadhurst and Horsley had successful ends to their 2007 season with Subiaco, playing in their victorious reserves premiership. Broadhurst, 21, was named the Lions best on ground after booting seven goals, while Horsley was also impressive in Subiaco’s extra time Grand Final win over East Fremantle.

Fremantle Player Development Coach Steve Malaxos said the trio had shown consistent form throughout the season for their respective WAFL clubs.

“We have seen enough of all three of them to warrant them come down to the club and train with the squad,” Steve said.

Broadhurst played 11 senior matches for the Lions in 2007 as both a forward and defender.

Horsley made seven league appearances for Subiaco this season including in his team’s 95 point win over South Fremantle in the Preliminary Final. He was unlucky to miss out on a spot in the Lion’s league grand final team due to Mark Nicoski returning for the premiership decider.

Dalziell played four league matches in the midfield for the Sharks this season and was named East Fremantle’s best on ground in their losing reserves grand final side, kicking two goals.

The three WAFL players join former Essendon defender Kepler Bradley, Calib Mourish, Clayton Collard and Ryley Dunn as unlisted players joining Fremantle on the training track during the off season.

More than 60 unlisted AFL players have joined various clubs throughout the competition for their respective pre season campaigns.
