Stephen Hill believes he’s well prepared should West Coast tagger Scott Selwood line up on him in Saturday’s Carlton Mid Derby.

Hill said Selwood had often tagged him when the teams played and was one of the best at his job.

“He tries to body me and get into me quite a bit,” Hill said.

“He plays me pretty tight.”

The 22-year-old speedster was fully aware, however, that taggers such as Selwood were equally adept at winning their own fair share of possession and hurting the opposition.

“He’s been really good for the Eagles this year winning quite a lot of the ball,” Hill said.

“I’ve got to watch it when they get the ball and make sure I’m accountable for him or whoever I might be playing on.”

Hill has sought the advice of Fremantle’s own human glove, Ryan Crowley, who has claimed the scalps of some of the AFL’s best midfielders throughout the season.

“He’s given me some tips on what makes it hard for him when he’s tagging opposition players, so I’ll try to use some of that advice that Ryan gives me,” he said.

Hill said some help from his teammates had also helped him break the taggers’ shackles this season.

One of those teammates who has assisted Hill purely by his presence is star midfielder Nat Fyfe, who returned to action last weekend following shoulder surgery.

“'Fyfey' is very dangerous, too, and they can’t go to everyone,” Hill said.

Hill said Fremantle were keen to put on a good performance in front of a home Derby crowd.

“It’s always good when playing as the home team in the Derby - we’ve got our crowd to support us,” he said.

“It’s always better when we’ve got them cheering us on.”
