Fremantle defender Luke McPharlin has agreed to terms for a two-year contract extension with the club.

The 30-year-old, who has played 209 AFL games, was signed through to the end of season 2012 and has now committed to the club through to the end of the 2014 season.

His excellent 2012 season, which saw him play a pivotal role in a Freo defence that ranked second behind only premiers Sydney for points conceded, was rewarded with selection in the All Australian team.

“Luke had an outstanding season this year,” Freo general manager of player management Brad Lloyd said.

“We are delighted that he’s signed on for the next two seasons.

“He’s a highly respected member of the playing group and integral to our hopes of achieving sustained success.”
