Matthew Pavlich will overtake West Coast Eagles’ legend Guy McKenna in second place for the most games played by a member of WA’s two AFL clubs when he runs out onto Patersons Stadium this Saturday night.

His 268th AFL appearance will put him one ahead of McKenna and just eight games shy of equalling Eagle great Glen Jakovich’s 276 games, which he would do in round 21 against Richmond at Patersons Stadium should he play every game until then.

Pavlich is close to breaking another West Coast Eagle’s record - the 514 goals kicked by his current assistant coach Peter Sumich, which is the mark for most goals by a player at either of WA’s two AFL clubs.

The Freo captain has booted 509 goals for Fremantle and needs five to equal Sumich.

A six-goal performance like the one he had against Richmond in round 11 will see Pavlich break the mark on Saturday night against the Bombers.
