Cameron Sutcliffe spoke to a fellow 2012 debutant earlier today to get a heads-up on what he can expect in his AFL debut against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

The 20-year-old will be Freo’s fourth player to make a debut this season after Lachie Neale, Lee Spurr and Hayden Crozier.

Neale told his fellow South Australian it was a major step up from WAFL level, in which Sutcliffe has performed excellently at recently.

“I’m expecting it to be a little bit quicker,” he said. “Obviously the skills are going to be better and the intensity is going to be flat out.”

Sutcliffe, whose parents are flying over for the game, said he couldn’t wait for his AFL debut.

“It’s going to be a great experience and I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

“I’m pretty excited at the moment, but I think when it comes to game day, I’ll be a little more nervous.”

He described himself as a hard-running, skilful team player who could spread well.

“I’m a hard working mid who will help his team out no matter what and, hopefully, I can help get the boys over the line.”
