Fremantle has defeated West Coast by 38 points in today’s Carlton Mid Derby at Subiaco.

Michael Barlow, who had 25 possessions, seven tackles and a goal, won the Ross Glendinning Medal after being voted best-on-ground.

Skipper Matthew Pavlich booted five goals.

Having kept the Eagles goalless for more than two quarters, Freo kicked 11 goals themselves during that period to move to a 5-1 win/loss record on the season.

After West Coast had gone into the main break leading by eight points, Pavlich opened the scoring in the second half with his third major.

A great goal from youngster Nat Fyfe gave Freo the lead, and then Michael Barlow finished off a great team move by slotting Freo’s tenth.

Fremantle kicked the first goal of the final quarter when Michael Johnson got his boot to the ball as Darren Glass was trying to rush through a behind on the goalline.

Pavlich then converted a set-shot for his fourth of the afternoon, and after Roger Hayden kicked the next two majors, Fremantle were well on the way to a sixth-consecutive Derby victory.
