Fremantle will need to be clinical in front of goal as they seek back-to-back wins when they face Hawthorn on Monday night at Optus Stadium, according to midfielder Adam Cerra.

Freo kicked 10.1 (61) in round nine against Collingwood, securing a 12-point win despite having two less scoring shots than the Magpies.

With rain predicted on Monday, Cerra said Fremantle would need that accuracy once again.

“We need to make the most of our opportunities when we go forward. That’s no different to any other team,” Cerra said.

“A lot of our game stems from our pressure and defensive work. Obviously when we go forward and get it in, we’ve got to make the most of it.

“Wet weather does make it more difficult at time with your skills but it’s a level playing field when it’s wet, so we have to take our chances.”

Cerra said Freo would also need to be on their game in the contest.

“The ability to just cleanly pick up the ball has such a bigger impact when it’s wet,” Cerra said.

“If we’re able to pressure the opposition when they win first possession, that is also massive for us - being able to get field position from that really allows you to play your style of footy.”

Both Fremantle and Hawthorn will be up and about after securing important wins in their previous games, with the Hawks defeating Carlton by 31-points last Friday.

“The vibe around the club is really good. We got a really good result on the weekend and we hope to carry that consistency and momentum into Monday night as well,” Cerra said.

“Hawthorn’s always a danger side, they’ve been a strong team for quite a while now.

“At the end of the day, they’ll bring their best footy and we’ll try and do the same.

“We got a lot of confidence from last weekend and we’ll back in our system again and hopefully, it will be a good game.”
