Fremantle AFLW recruit Jess Trend will pursue a private opportunity outside of football in the coming months that will impact her preparation for the 2021 NAB AFL Women’s season. Subsequently she has been placed on the club’s inactive list.

Fremantle’s Senior Manager Football Operations Joe Brierty said it would not impact Fremantle’s preparations following the AFL’s approval for the Club to secure a replacement player.

“It is certainly unfortunate that we won’t have Jess as an active player on our list for the upcoming season, but it presents an exciting opportunity for us to recruit another talented player to our group,” Brierty said.

“Jess has our full support and, given she has been placed on the inactive list, we can reassess her list position at the end of the season.”

“We will review our list management needs over the coming days before finalising the replacement player and completing our list for the 2021 AFLW season”
Fremantle secured the former North Melbourne midfielder during the 2020 AFLW sign and trade period.
