The 2020 Doig Medal Presentation Dinner will be held on Thursday 22 October, streamed live from the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth.

In the lead up to the event, fremantlefc.com.au will be running through the players who stand the best chance to win the award.

David Mundy – Season summary
David Mundy was consistently among Fremantle’s best in 2020. He led Fremantle for clearances, ranked second for contested possessions, equal second for inside 50s and fourth for tackles.
While much has been made of the achievements of young mids Caleb Serong, Adam Cerra and Andrew Brayshaw in 2020, Mundy’s experience and leadership in the middle was arguably even more important as he played a guiding role for Freo’s up and comers.
His efforts helped Freo to important wins against Adelaide, Collingwood, Hawthorn and North Melbourne as he showed age was no barrier at 35 in his 16th AFL season.
Mundy won the Doig Medal in 2010 and has finished in the top five nine times since 2009. After yet another superb season, Mundy is a chance to finish in the top-five for an incredible 10th time.

Best game
It’s hard to single out just one performance but Mundy’s 25-disposals and seven clearances in round five against Adelaide were crucial to getting Fremantle’s season rolling after Freo went winless for the opening four rounds.
Six of Mundy’s clearances came from the centre bounce as he helped lead Freo’s young mids with captain Nat Fyfe out with a hamstring injury.
