Fremantle held their second Member Advisory Forum at club headquarters at Cockburn ARC on Tuesday evening, which was attended by 38 members who joined with club directors, the entire executive team and key club staff to exchange information and ideas about club operations.

The members heard from president Dale Alcock, CEO Simon Garlick, executive general manager of football Peter Bell and senior coaches Justin Longmuir and Trent Cooper.

Members also had their chance to provide input into a number of key club strategies and initiatives and were able to provide more in depth feedback following the session.

The forums are intended to be held in February and June each year however the June forum was postponed until November due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The topics discussed on the evening included but were not limited to Fremantle member recognition, the 2021 branding and marketing campaign and the club’s ongoing plans to develop a stronger presence in Fremantle.

Chris Read, a member since 2006, said the forum provided a great balance of hearing from the club and being able to provide feedback.

It’s fantastic that our club is giving us the opportunity to have, not only insight into the workings of the club, but have input into the future direction

“There was a big focus on building towards sustained success. I really feel that that is something that everyone in this room believed in tonight.

“It was great to hear Justin share with us the passion he clearly had all year. For him to share his vision, and for that to be a shared vision, is really important - particularly in sport where there’s so much passion involved from the fans.

“It was also important to hear about the impact 2020 has had on the club that I’ve loved for 26 years and I value being a part of the forum.”

Garlick said the feedback from the members was invaluable.

“The overriding focus for us is that this forum provides an opportunity for us to inform and to be informed,” Garlick said.

“It’s to provide a key component of our membership with insights and an understanding of what’s happening at the club but at the same time, we want to gain critical feedback.

“The input from the members was invaluable in that respect. There would have been 20 different ideas that we can go away and use now to improve the club based on direct feedback, which can’t be underestimated.

“Some of the ideas from our first forum back in February have already been implemented and some are at different stages of development.

“We’re here to administer the club on our members’ behalf. With these type of platforms, along with our Annual Members Meeting, hearing directly from our members is invaluable.”
