Six Fremantle-listed players took part in a scratch match for Peel against West Coast’s WAFL side at Victor George Kailis Oval on Saturday.

Development coach Adam Read runs through how the players fared.

Taylin Duman
Taylin got some good minutes in after an interrupted pre-season due to having wrist surgery in the off-season. He’s working on getting back to full match fitness and played well in defence.

Stefan Giro
Stefan had a really good game, especially coming back from that ACL injury. It was pretty much his first game against an opposition, as his only other game was an intraclub. He played on the wing, broke into space well, was clean with ball in hand and as the game opened up late, his speed and endurance was evident.

Sam Switkowski
Sam played as a small forward and had a good game. He was strong in the contest and kicked a goal. It will provide some good confidence for him coming off missing last season. He got through the game without any issues and we are looking forward to him building on the weekend’s performance.

Leno Thomas
Leno played in defence. He was really good with the ball in hand and was a key driver of Peel’s ball movement coming out of the backline. He’s still working on his defensive craft but he fought strongly in the contest. Overall some positive signs for Leno.

Joel Western
Joel played as a high forward looking to use his speed as his main weapon. He got into some good positions, was clean when he got the ball and he’s just looking to build on his first AFL pre-season. After coming up from the colts for Claremont, it was his first time playing against men, so it was a really good experience for him.

Nathan Wilson
Nathan played in defence and was looking to use one of his strengths, which was his ball use. He showed good leadership and you could hear him clearly across the afternoon instructing the young Peel defenders, which was really good to see.
