Fremantle are set to have a completely different team to select from in around two weeks time as more than a handful of players become available for selection after recovering from injury.

Freo could have an extra six players available against Hawthorn this Sunday at Optus Stadium.

After making his return from injury in the WAFL and kicking five goals for Peel, Sam Sturt is now available to play for Fremantle.

Nat Fyfe (concussion), Griffin Logue (hamstring), Bailey Banfield (ankle), Mitch Crowden (calf) and Luke Valente (soreness) could also available for minutes this weekend if they get through training.

Senior coach Justin Longmuir told Seven News on Tuesday that ruck/forward Rory Lobb could also return to playing football as early next week, with a Fremantle return possible as early as round six against North Melbourne.

“He’s tracking really well. He’s started running and he’s ticked every box well ahead of schedule so far,” Longmuir told Seven News.

“We’re looking to get him some game time next week and if it’s not next week, it’s the week after, so that’s a great result.”

Longmuir said Fyfe was showing positive signs as he continues to recover from concussion, but stressed that Fremantle would not rush his return.

“He’s ticked every box that the medicos have asked,” Longmuir said.

“Clearly he’ll have to get through main training and tick a few more boxes. It’s looking reasonably positive.”

It’s not all good news on the injury front with Fremantle needing to find replacements for Hayden Young (hamstring) and Lachie Schultz (concussion).

“We’ve got a few injuries that we need to replace. We feel like we’re starting to get some players back this week from injury and a few players will start coming back over the next fortnight,” Longmuir said.

“We just need to ride out this next couple of weeks and we’ll have a few more to pick from in a fortnight’s time.”
