How do Freo's efforts against North Melbourne rank in the Club’s history?

Let’s have a look at the numbers behind Fremantle’s 51-point win at Perth Stadium on Saturday.

DAVID MUNDY
David Mundy put up some career-best numbers on Saturday night, which is totally normal behaviour for a 35-year-old in the AFL.
In his 338th game, Mundy had 30 disposals and three goals for the first time.
Having 30+ and 3+ is a feat that has only been achieved by seven other Freo Dockers players, and it’s fitting Mundy has joined the exclusive club of Nat Fyfe and Michael Barlow (four times), Peter Bell (three times), Stephen Hill and Lachie Neale (twice) and Matthew Pavlich and Michael Walters (once).
Mundy also did it with a time on ground percentage of just 69.8 per cent (most of the above did it with 80+).
Chris Robinson from The West Australian also highlighted that Mundy passed a long-standing Freo record to be proud of.

CALEB SERONG
The young midfielder put on a performance that has only been surpassed by a fellow NAB Rising Star winner.
Serong had 35 disposals against North Melbourne, the second most for a Fremantle player aged under 21.
Only Paul Hasleby's 37 disposals against Richmond in 2000 eclipses Serong's efforts.

PLAYER DATE OPPONENT AGE D
P.Hasleby 16-Jul-00 Richmond 19 37
C.Serong 24-Apr-21 North Melbourne 20 35
C.Callaghan 23-Jul-95 Richmond 19 34
P.Hasleby 18-May-02 Melbourne 20 34
A.Brayshaw 10-Aug-20 Hawthorn 20 33*

Andrew Brayshaw's 33 disposals as a 20-year-old against Hawthorn deserves extra credit as it came in 2020 with 16 minute quarters. If he continued on that pace for a full-length game with 20 minute quarters, he would have racked up 41 for the day!

SPEAKING OF...
Caleb Serong (20) and Andrew Brayshaw (21) are the only Freo players aged 21 and under to have 30+ disposals each in the same game.

Serong with the footy...odds are Brayshaw is the one who gave it to him.

MATT TABERNER
With four goals, Matt Taberner extended his streak of kicking multiple goals in a game to six.
It eclipsed his previous best streak of five in 2020 (rounds nine to 14).
Only five players have better streaks to their name in club history, with Taberner chasing Kingsley Hunter (seven games, 1997), Tony Modra (seven games, 1999), Paul Medhurst (eight games, 2003-2004) Jeff Farmer (10 games, 2006) and, obviously, Matthew Pavlich.
Pavlich's best streak is 17 games between round 13, 2006 to round 4, 2007. He also has streaks of 15 (2007), 11 (2010) and 11 (2012).
Ridiculous.

LACHIE SCHULTZ
The 23-year-old had a career-best four goals against North Melbourne and has kicked 10.2 so far in a year where Freo have struggled for accuracy.

REECE CONCA
You may have read here that Reece Conca is now on a three-game streak without conceding a goal to a direct opponent. He's only conceded three goals in total this season!

BRENNAN COX
With a disposal efficiency of 91.7, Brennan Cox leads all players in the AFL who have played all six games this season.

SEAN DARCY
Sean Darcy is just quietly having a breakout season.
Something the 202cm Darcy is bringing to the table (as well as his rucking and contested marking) is his pressure. Against North Melbourne, he equaled his career-high of eight tackles.
Out of Freo's big-men (taller than 200cm) only Zac Clarke has had more tackles in a game.

PLAYER DATE OPPONENT HEIGHT T
Z.Clarke 24-Jul-11 West Coast 203cm 10
S.Darcy 24-Apr-21 North Melbourne 202cm 8
S.Darcy 12-Aug-18 Carlton 202cm 8
Z.Clarke 03-Sep-11 Western Bulldogs 203cm 8
This isn't a tackle...but you get the point.

FOUR QUARTER EFFORT
It was the 39th time in club history that Fremantle have won every quarter in a game.
The last two times Fremantle have achieved the feat also came against North Melbourne in 2020 and 2019.
It means Fremantle have won 12 consecutive quarters against the Kangaroos, last losing a quarter to them in the fourth quarter in round 10, 2018.

4-2
This is the sixth time Fremantle have started a season 4-2. Freo have made finals in three of the previous five occasions.
2006: 15-7 (Preliminary final)
2011: 9-13 (11th)
2012: 14-8 (6th)
2013: 16-1-5 (Grand final)
2019: 9-13 (13th)

BAD...BUT KINDA GOOD?
Fremantle might be 4-2, but they've gotten there in a wayward fashion.
It's Freo's sixth straight game this year without kicking more goals than behinds (seven straight if you count round 18 last year).
Hopefully, this streak ends soon and doesn't go close to the run of 11 games without more goals than behinds in 1996.
Fortunately, there's a positive in the numbers.
In the past six games, Fremantle have managed 153 scoring shots at an average of 25.5 per game.
You would need to go back to 2010 for Freo to have an average that high in a season.
That means this is Freo's highest scoring shot per game average in the chevrons.

YEAR AVG SCORES / GAME
2010 26.4
2011 21.7
2012 23.7
2013 24.1
2014 24.6
2015 22.0
2016 20.0
2017 20.5
2018 19.8
2019 20.6
2020 13.6
2021 25.5
Fun fact...Pav and Mundy had a combined experience of 350 AFL games when this photo was taken against North Melbourne in 2010.
