Nat Fyfe will make his return and play his 199th AFL game on the biggest stage when Fremantle take on Carlton at the MCG on Saturday night.

The two-time Brownlow Medallist comes in for Matt Taberner, who injured his calf in round 15 against Collingwood.

Mitch Crowden is technically an omission after playing as a medical sub against Collingwood, named as an emergency alongside Reece Conca, Lloyd Meek and Taylin Duman.

Fyfe last played against the Western Bulldogs in round 12, where he dislocated his shoulder.

He was initially named to face Collingwood but was a late withdrawal to give his shoulder another week to gain strength.

Senior coach Justin Longmuir said the extra week had benefitted the Fremantle captain.

“It’s (Fyfe’s shoulder) improving day by day,” Longmuir said.

“His strength has come up from last week so we’re a lot more confident.

“He’ll spend some time forward but his role prior to going out of the team was probably 80/20, more midfield than forward so we’ll continue to look at that.”

Bouncedown for the clash is at 7.20pm EST (5.40pm WST) and the attendance will be capped at 25,000.
