Griffin Logue feels Freo have settled into their 'home away from home' for Round 16 as they host Carlton at the MCG on Saturday night.

Fremantle were given a boost this week when their match against Carlton was switched to the MCG, instead of being at GMHBA Stadium or Marvel Stadium.

Freo have played at the MCG just three times over the past three seasons and Saturday night's clash will give Freo vital experience at the Grand Final venue.

Logue, who has played at the MCG just twice since being drafted in 2016, still remembers how daunting the venue was when he first played at it.

"It looks like ... the Quidditch World Cup in Harry Potter where you look up and the barriers just keep going over your head," Logue said.

"The first time I went there it was a big colosseum, that's what I thought about when I first pulled on the socks there in my first year.

"At the end of the day it's just another ground. It's big and wide and suits our game style."

Logue said the stakes of the clash weren't lost at Freo, with a place in the top eight beckoning if they secure a win.

“It’s obviously a big opportunity that we’ve been given and we kind of got that way by playing our footy and enjoying it at the same time,” Logue said.

“We’re looking forward to build off last week as we always do and there’s an opportunity to move up the ladder which we’ll take with both hands.

“We just want to keep learning and keep improving, we’re still a young side, apart from David Mundy.”

Logue said the recent return of Alex Pearce has made Freo's backline a formidable outfit.

"Alex is not just a great leader and a great player, he’s a good bloke and a good mate of mine as well,” Logue said.

“We’ve travelled away together so to get the opportunity to play together and get to work together is great.

“It makes my life a lot easier and helps get Lukey Ryan off the shackles a bit as well.

“He usually takes the first tall and I’ll take the next bloke. It’s just a good help and a good presence to have down there.”

Fremantle has been boosted by the return of skipper Nat Fyfe (dislocated shoulder), while Carlton recalled Levi Casboult to join Coleman medal leader Harry McKay in attack.
