Hands up who picked David Mundy in their Dream Teams for 2011?

If you answered yes, you’d be laughing after the 2010 Doig Medallist scorched Geelong for 29 possessions and a massive 134 DT points on Saturday night.

Mundy’s knock included 29 possessions, 12 marks and a goal. That performance took his season average after two games to 110.5. We’re talking elite category.

It’s still early to make bold predictions, but a breakout year in terms of DT scoring looms for the midfielder.

Yes, he had a brilliant 2010, averaging 23 disposals per game on his way to winning the Freo Best and Fairest, but Mundy’s output in the world of Dream Team was still just a respectable 90.6.

He’s a unique pick, too, with only 4,917 coaches having Mundy in their squads after round 1. To put that in perspective, Collingwood’s Dane Swan was in 138,014 teams.

The writing was on the wall in Brisbane in round 1.

After a disrupted pre-season, Mundy started slowly at the Gabba. But as the match wore on, the better he got, ending up with 87 points.

If he can keep scoring the way he did against the Cats, get him in your side before his price balloons out of your Dream Team bank’s reach.

Mundy’s breakeven is only 53 points in round 3 against Adelaide. Any more points and his price will rise well above his starting figure of $370,200.

Another value pick to come out of the Freo Dockers is second-year young gun Nat Fyfe, who started the year at $282,900.

Those who followed Freo’s pre-season closely might have been onto picking the 19-year-old in their sides.

Fyfe played his first match of the year in the NAB Challenge match against the Western Bulldogs in Bunbury. He came on as a second half substitute and proceeded to rack up more than 20 disposals.

He followed that up with a strong showing against West Coast in the final pre-season fixture.

Come round 1 in Brisbane, Fyfe exploded for 29 possessions and 95 DT points.

He could only manage 65 against Geelong in round 2, but a season average of 80 from the opening two rounds means a price rise is on the way.

Fyfe only needs 49 points against the Crows this week to breakeven.

And if you’re one of the 82,780 coaches who have picked Nick Lower, get set for payday after round 3, presuming he’s selected to play in his hometown of Adelaide.

Despite being subbed off in the third quarter of the round 2 match against Geelong, Lower’s season average of 69.5 makes him a bona fide cash cow.

After starting the year at the bargain-basement price of $92,500, his breakeven is now at -71.

Start counting the cash Lower owners.

And bragging rights this week in the Fremantle Players and Fans Dream Team Group go to Joshua P with team “fremiers”, which scored 2,256 points.

Good luck to all Dream Team coaches out there for round 3.
