General manager of football Peter Bell addressed the media in Melbourne to kick off the 2019 Telstra AFL Trade Period.

The trade period commenced on Monday and runs until Wednesday 16 October.

Here are the key takeaways from Bell’s media conference.

On Tim Kelly
We've got to be respectful of Tim's wishes and we've put our case to Tim's management, and obviously as was the case last year, he wants to go to West Coast. We'll continue to do the best we can to present as a viable option for Tim should negotiations stall between Geelong and West Coast. But we are respectful of Tim and Caitlin's wishes.

On Ed Langdon
Indications are that he'd like to return to Victoria – we'll get some clarification on that today, hopefully. There's a lot of speculation that Melbourne is a club that's very interested in Ed and we're looking forward to catching up today to get some clarity on that.

On Langdon’s worth at the trade table
We'll discuss that with the team that Ed indicates he'd like to play for next year but, look, he's been top five in our fairest and best the last two years, very durable player, outstanding character, so we value him very highly and clearly there's a lot of clubs that value him highly.

On Angus Brayshaw trade rumours
He's a contracted player for Melbourne, a very good player, so I'd prefer not to get into a narrative on other players we may or may not be interested in.

On a Langdon-Angus Brayshaw trade with Melbourne
I’m not going to speculate on Angus, he's a contracted player. I've gone through the attributes that Ed has and we're open to discussions, so we'll get up there and start having them.

On Bradley Hill’s trade request to St Kilda
We'll have those discussions with the Saints. We've had numerous discussions – myself and our list management with their list management as well. Brad's an exceptional player, clearly, and they've made a really strong (contract) offer to him and they've made that in the knowledge he has two years to run on his existing contract with us. He's athletically as gifted a player as you're going to find in the AFL and does things not many other players can do, so we'll work through that with the Saints.
