The AFL Tribunal have upheld Caleb Serong's one-match suspension following a hearing on Tuesday.

The midfielder was charged with Rough Conduct (first offence) for his tackle on Adam Cerra during Fremantle's clash with Carlton at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

The incident was graded as Careless Conduct, Medium Impact, High Contact and was sanctioned with a one-match suspension.

The Club made two separate arguments. First that the grading should not be Careless, which would have resulted in no charge. Then that the impact was Low and not Medium, which would have resulted in a $2000 fine for a first offence.

The Tribunal upheld the Match Review Officer's grading, meaning Serong will miss Fremantle's round 18 clash with Collingwood on Saturday at the MCG.
