Doig Medallist Ryan Crowley says he’ll be right to go for the NAB Cup as he recovers from a torn pectoral muscle sustained in December.

Crowley’s injury did not require surgery, but he had to undergo an adjusted training program for six weeks that has kept him out of all football drills.

“Rehab is coming along well,’ Crowley said.

“We’ve progressed on to contact now.

“I’m just ticking the last few boxes before I get back into main training.

“Hopefully you’ll be seeing me on the track soon and I should be able to go in the next couple of weeks for the start of the NAB Cup.”

Crowley said, while being unable to participate in ball drills had been “taxing on the mind”, there were some positives to come out of the injury.

“The good thing with doing a pectoral muscle is that you’re still able to run, so I’ve been able to keep really fit throughout the summer,” he said.

Crowley believed he could return sooner, but the club’s fitness staff had chosen to take a cautious approach and ensure the brilliant tagger had fully recovered.

“I think my 100 per cent and their 100 per cent are different things,” he said.

“I feel like I’m ready to go now, but they are making sure I get those last few indicators right before giving me the green light.

“We’ve always trusted our medico’s judgement, so I’m sure they know what’s best.”
