Emma O’Driscoll was confirmed as one of the stars of the competition in what was an otherwise tough day for Fremantle against North Melbourne at Fremantle Oval on Sunday.

The defender stood tall under an onslaught of inside 50s from the Kangaroos, leading the stat 48-18, in what was a 45-point loss for Freo.

With the ball living in the defensive half, O’Driscoll went to work with 28 disposals, 14 contested possessions, 15 intercept possessions, nine marks, eight rebound 50s and 467 metres gained.

The performance smashed her previous best of 20 disposals form earlier this year against Essendon and she currently leads the AFLW for intercept possessions.

Fellow back Jess Low praised O’Driscoll’s ability to perform under the immense pressure.

“It was another great game from Drisco, not only from her defensive work, but you could see it in her intercept marking,” Low said.

“It’s also the chat she brings on the field, her energy pre-game, post-game, she’s been phenomenal every week.

"She’s learnt to lean into her strengths - she’s such a great mark and attacks the contest with her trademark effort and she’s the quickest person I know.

“She’s worked a lot on her mindfulness and she brings a good mindset into the game every week.”

The loss came after Freo enjoyed success on the road against Richmond a week prior with a seven point win at Ikon Park.

Freo now have three wins from six games and Low said the team needed to deliver more consistently.

“It was a hard game, really contested and we couldn’t get our balance right across the game and it made it tough over the four quarters,” Low said.

“We’re struggling with our inconsistency. We trained well during the week but if we don’t bring 100 per cent, we find out in the first two quarters, and from there it’s hard to get the game back on our terms.

“When it’s coming in that much during the game, you can start to lose a bit of focus, I think.

“We held up for a while but as a backline, we started to panic and feel that scoreboard pressure.”

Low said the team was confident they could bounce back next Saturday against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

“We’ll take the day to reset and recover from this game,” Low said.

“Luckily, it’s only a six day break and we can look to play better footy next week.

“I’m excited to play a GMHBA Stadium and we’ll look to get the win.”
