Caleb Serong declared that Jordan Clark has been one of the standouts this pre-season, becoming one of the 'generals' on field as Fremantle prepares for their 2024 season.

“For him (Clark) to really take on that role of being the general down there and being able to organise his teammates has allowed him to really flourish as a player,” Serong said to Kane Cornes and Gerard Healy on SEN on Thursday.

“I’m looking forward to him using his speed, playing higher (up the field), and being really damaging kicking inside 50.”

Clark is entering his sixth year in the AFL, having played 47 games across his first two seasons with Fremantle.

The 23-year-old was rated as above average in one percenters, disposals, disposal efficiency, inside 50s, marks, tackles, spoils and elite for ground ball gets in 2023.

“I think he is going to be really exciting not just this year but into the future,” Serong said.

“He’s taken a really big step this pre-season in terms of his leadership and communication out on the field.

“Being a high defender, he’s often coming up to the stoppage and is really helping to communicate and work with the wing and midfield.”

Serong added that the list had been focusing on playing a 'fierce' and 'physical' brand of football in 2024, highlighted by the Club’s intraclub game last Saturday where several players were involved in scuffles.

“What you’ll see from us is there is a really fierce, contested brand of footy,” the reigning Doig Medallist said.

“Physicality has been a big focus for us this pre-season, we’ve been really testing each other in that space.”

Fremantle will play West Coast on Saturday 24 February in the sold-out match simulation, marking the Club’s first hit-out against an actual AFL opponent.
