Fremantle’s Luke Jackson has propelled himself into Champion Data’s top 10 rated players after a month of strong performances playing as a ruck, forward, and even a rover at times.
Speaking on SEN Sportsday, Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne revealed their systems latest batch of player ratings, with Jackson the big mover.
“The addition (to the top 10) is Luke Jackson, who comes in as the second-best player in the competition,” Hoyne said.
“He was just short of being around that mark after Round 12 because he had missed a bit of footy, so he hadn’t qualified with the minutes played.
“I’d have Tristan Xerri (as the All-Australian ruckman) with a look to have Luke Jackson on the bench as well.
“That’s going to be an interesting discussion in about eight weeks for the All-Australian panel.”
Since Fremantle’s gutsy Round 12 win over Gold Coast at People First Stadium, Jackson has averaged 19.5 disposals, 25.5 hit-outs, 5.75 tackles, 3.25 marks, and 1.75 goals per game.
Fellow teammate and midfielder Andrew Brayshaw caps off Champion Data’s top 10 players, coming in at 10th on the list.
Hoyne also revealed that forward Josh Treacy has been making significant moves up the rankings over the past month.
“In the last six weeks, Josh Treacy is inside the top 20 players in the competition after being outside the top 100 six weeks ago,” Hoyne said.
Fremantle will now face the Sydney Swans in Round 17 in Sydney, with the condition of the SCG’s turf to be reassessed by the AFL on Friday.
