Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir says forward Pat Voss’ career-best six-goal haul against Collingwood on Sunday is the result of his ongoing commitment to doing whatever it takes for the team.

Voss was instrumental in Fremantle’s thrilling win over the ladder leaders, kicking three goals while opposed to dual All-Australian defender Darcy Moore in the first quarter and finishing the day with six.

He earned the second-highest Player Rating (18.2) on the ground, according to Champion Data.

“He (Voss) had a role and we asked him to do that early in the week (on Moore),” Longmuir said.

“He’d do anything for us.

“He was rewarded today in that role. He did Sicily last week and didn’t get the reward but still contributed to the team.

“This week he did both and I thought he clearly had a big impact on the game.”

Speaking on Voss’s journey to Fremantle after being delisted by Essendon at the end of the 2023 season, Longmuir said Voss has thrown everything into his AFL lifeline.

“As soon as he came to the club, he worked his backside off,” Longmuir said.

“A lot gets talked about with Vossy - his energy and his celebrations after goals - but there isn’t a player on our list who has worked harder on their game.

“Six-thirty in the morning, he’s got the ‘Voss Academy’ going - with all the other talls doing extra marking and that type of thing.

“He got reward for effort by playing a role for us today, but this type of performance is a reward for the effort he’s put into his game over many years, I’d imagine.”

After coming off back-to-back come-from-behind wins, Longmuir says the team will reset ahead of RAC Derby 61.

“Live in the moment. Understand we’ve got processes to be able to enjoy wins, move on from wins, and then prepare for the opposition,” Longmuir said.

“Our fans can get excited absolutely, people within the footy Club will get excited, but as far as the coaching group and players are concerned, we’ve just got to enjoy this and move on.

“We’ve got a big game next week, and I know that’s boring - but that’s the reality of footy.”
