Fremantle AFLW High Performance Manager Tom Sutherland provided an injury update ahead of the Club’s first home game of the season on Saturday 23 August against the Brisbane Lions.
Utility Tunisha Kikoak exited the ground following a head knock in the second quarter of Sunday’s Round 1 clash with Port Adelaide, and was ruled out for the remainder of the match.
Sutherland ruled Kikoak out of this weekend’s game as the young gun has entered concussion protocols.
“TK had a head knock in the game. Unfortunately, she has a concussion, so she’s in the HIA protocols,” Sutherland said.
“We won’t see her this weekend.”
Defender Madi Scanlon’s return to play timeline has become clear, following an unfortunate ankle roll during pre-season.
“Madi’s progressing well, so we’re hoping to see her in a couple of weeks,” Sutherland said.
“We’re building in her football at the moment.”
Sutherland said the Club is expecting to have a clearer timeline for key forward Áine Tighe in the coming weeks as she continues to inch toward the backend of her knee rehab.
Tighe ruptured her ACL in the Club’s Round 4 game against Melbourne last season in September.
“Áine’s progressing really well, she’s ticking off each step at a time and is working extremely hard,” Sutherland said.
“We’re hoping to have a clearer update in the next couple of weeks.”
