Fremantle key forward Josh Treacy says the competitive nature between him and the other forwards has made him a better player.
Speaking during the first day of pre-season training, Treacy revealed that challenging himself against the likes of Pat Voss in the gym has pushed him to improve, with the two regularly going head-to-head on the weight rack.
“I came in quite raw in terms of gym experience and my exposure to the gym prior to being drafted,” Treacy said.
“I feel like I’ve come from a long way back, but with the addition of Vossy last year, I felt like I helped him in quite a lot of areas, and without him probably knowing, he actually helped me quite a lot in the gym last year.
“It’s fair to say that I probably wouldn’t be going to the levels I am at the moment if he wasn’t here, that’s for sure.”
Treacy (44), Voss (37) and Jye Amiss (32) combined for 113 goals in 2025, with the three-pronged key-forward attack potentially adding Mason Cox as a fourth tall option for the 2026 season via the Supplemental Selection Period.
Fremantle’s next main training session will take place on Friday 6 December, at the Club’s Cockburn ARC headquarters.
