Alex Pearce will remain captain of Fremantle Football Club for season 2026, heading an increased eight-member leadership group with the new addition of All Australian defender Jordan Clark.
Endorsed by a player and coaches vote earlier this week, Pearce will be at the helm for the fourth consecutive year.
The 30-year-old key defender will continue to be supported by co-vice captains Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong.
Coming off a career-best season and top five finish in the Doig Medal, 25-year-old dashing defender Clark joins the ranks after developing into a respected on and off-field leader.
The remainder of the leadership group is unchanged with Pearce, Brayshaw and Serong again joined by Jaeger O’Meara, Sam Switkowski, Hayden Young and Josh Treacy.
Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty said Pearce’s reappointment as captain reflects the strong confidence the players, coaches and Club have in his ability to lead the team once again in 2026.
“It is no surprise Alex has once again been backed by his peers and the broader Club to lead this side for a fourth year,” Brierty said.
“Alex’s growth as a leader has been outstanding. His values, work ethic, and ability to bring the group together continue to set the standard for our Club.
“He embodies everything our trademark stands for, and the respect he commands from players and coaches alike was clearly reflected in the voting.
“Alongside Alex, it’s clear that Caleb and Andy, continue to develop as leaders and once again have been recognised by their peers for the commitment and professionalism they bring to every aspect of their football and the Club.
“This leadership group is a great representation of the behaviours and standards that our player group value the most and we know they will continue to drive our trademark consistently across the 2026 season.”
Brierty believes the addition of Clark to the leadership group is an endorsement of his hard work and investment to elevate all aspects of his role at the Club as he enters his fifth season at Fremantle and eighth in the AFL.
“Jordan is a fierce competitor who cares deeply for his teammates and our entire football club,” said Brierty
“He has been a developing his leadership in recent seasons and he should be very proud of his inclusion in our 2026 leadership group.”
Clark’s outstanding 2025 season saw the hard running half back earn his inaugural All Australian blazer, setting career high numbers in disposals (579), tackles (72), clearances (32), pressure acts (310) and ground ball gets (127).
