Fremantle midfield star Caleb Serong is a Docker for life after signing a seven-year contract extension to remain at the Club until the end of season 2034.
The 25-year-old had previously been contracted to the end of 2027, when he would have become a free agent.
Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls said the Club is delighted to see the fierce competitor sign on.
“We are absolutely thrilled for Caleb and the Club,” Walls said.
“The individual accolades he has, alongside the leadership qualities he consistently demonstrates year on year, are pretty incredible given he’s still just 25.
“It’s great to see him locked away as a Fremantle player and a member of the Freo family for life, essentially.
“He was going to be out of contract and a free agent at the end of next year, so with Tasmania entering the competition and a number of other Clubs interested on the east coast, he would have certainly been one of the most sought-after players.
“Caleb’s signature is great news and just shows that he and his now wife Chloe, are Freo through and through. They’ve fallen in love with WA since moving here from Victoria and well and truly believe in what we are building at the Club.”
A model of consistency in Fremantle’s engine room, Serong is already a three-time All Australian (2023, 2024, 2025) and three-time Doig Medallist (2023, 2024, 2025).
He is only the second Fremantle player to win three consecutive Doig Medals, alongside Club champion Matthew Pavlich.
Drafted from Gippsland Power with selection No.8 in the 2019 National Draft, Serong debuted four rounds into 2020 and went on to claim the AFL Rising Star award at the end of the season.
“He is so passionate about Fremantle, and you can see that not only in the way he plays, but also in the way he goes about things off the field,” Walls said.
“He is just a pure professional in everything he does and in how he applies himself.”
Serong said the decision to commit to a long term contract was easy.
“It's really exciting. It means a lot to me and my family. This Club means a lot to me,” Serong said.
“It's a great feeling to be able to commit long term and to know what our future looks like as a family, where we're going to be for the next nine years now, which is really exciting and something that didn't require too much thought.”
The newly inked deal sees Serong join midfield teammates and close friends Hayden Young (2033) and Andrew Brayshaw (2031) on long-term contracts.
Brennan Cox, Josh Treacy, Judd McVee, Pat Voss and Sean Darcy are contracted until 2030, while Jye Amiss, Luke Jackson and Michael Frederick, Shai Bolton, and Murphy Reid have signed until 2029.
“It's very, very exciting, one of the parts that gets me going in the morning is the passion and the excitement those guys - and such a big group of our cohort at the moment - have for this footy club,” Serong said.
“You don't commit that long to a footy club if you don't have an emotional and a really strong investment with that, and that's what I feel the most.
“I feel that emotional, strong love for this footy club, and I know a lot of those guys do too.”
