Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir has given insight into what his side values week to week.

Speaking at his Tuesday morning media conference, Longmuir highlighted that although key forward Josh Treacy’s form is red hot at the moment, internally, process and role are highly valued and rewarded as well.

“We try and reward the process,” Longmuir said.

“Sometimes your wingers run patterns on the open side, which help you defend the ground and support the backline.

"For whatever reason, the team doesn't change angles and access those wingers, so the possession tally is low, but they've still done so much in their role to contribute to team success.

“Behind the scenes, we're rewarding those selfless acts and the things within roles that don't get recognised externally. We're recognising them internally.”

Using the example of the weekend, where Treacy had a stellar 16 disposals and four goals - including an equal career-high 12 marks against the Tigers in the 60-point win - Longmuir highlighted the roles of fellow forwards Jye Amiss and Pat Voss and their impact.

“I thought we saw Jye take a step forward with his footy,” Longmuir said.

“He took some opportunities and still left a couple out there, but his process was really good on the weekend. We’ll continue to work on his craft so he can maximise those opportunities.

“Vossy on the weekend had 11 score involvements and made a real impact in defence to win the ball back for us.

“He was really selfless with the way he squared the ball up inside forward 50.

“Jye, you know could have easily had a snap at one stage and tried to get on the scoreboard himself, but he fed it back to Johnno (Matthew Johnson).

“They're the sorts of things we're rewarding internally, because they're the things that make you a good football team.”

Fremantle will now endure back-to-back trips to South Australia to take on the Adelaide Crows and Collingwood, before an away Western Derby in Round 6 against the Eagles.

“We just focus on this week,” Longmuir said.

“We prepare meticulously for Adelaide. We understand the environment we're going into away from home.

“Adelaide has a big supporter base and it will be a full house.

“We've been really good this year at staying in the moment, being where our feet are, and trying to get the most out of everything.

“As coaches and players, we're just preparing for Adelaide at the moment.

“What comes next, we'll worry about next week and beyond.”
