Fremantle’s Female Football Academy is back in 2019 with a series of clinics available for girls aged between 13 to 14 years in March.

The four-week program will be run by Fremantle AFLW star Dana Hooker and the club’s Next Generation Academy coaches. It is suitable for girls of all abilities that live in Fremantle’s NGA zones of East Fremantle, South Fremantle, Peel, Claremont and West Perth.

More than 50 girls participated in the program in 2018 and this year the program will be expanded to North and South hubs.

The North Hub clinics will be held on Wednesdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 March at MacDonald Park in Padbury.

The South Hub clinics will be held on Thursdays 7, 14, 21 and 28 March at Victor George Kailis Oval at 31 Veterans Parade in Cockburn Central.

There will also be additional clinics for girls aged 11 to 12 years held in June.

Dana Hooker, who won Fremantle’s Fairest and best in 2017 and was the runner-up in 2018, said that the clinics will focus on growing participation and developing skills and abilities.

“We’re really excited about developing all girls that are new to the sport and currently in the sport,” Hooker said.

“The clinics will work on fundamental skills and game knowledge development while having a lot of fun as well.

“Footy is the best sport in the world. It’s a great way to test yourself and it’s great playing in a team environment where you can develop really good relationships and make great friends.”
