Here are three things we saw from Peel’s 6-point win over East Perth
Sharp shines
Jeremy Sharp returned to Peel Thunder following his two rounds of AFL duties and did not miss a beat. Despite receiving strong attention from the opposition, he was unfazed and led all players with 37 disposals and six inside 50s. Alongside fellow midfielder Nathan O’Driscoll (23 disposals, eight marks), the pair were standouts for the Thunder and put their hands up for an AFL recall.
Key Backs putting hands up to fill Moose-sized void
With the news of Fremantle skipper Alex Pearce injuring his MCL in the Round 9 win over the Hawks, a number of Peel Thunder defenders put their hands up to replace the skipper. Hugh Davies (19 disposals, eight marks) continues to perform strongly in 2026, while Oscar McDonald (20 disposals, eight marks) was heavily involved early and remained defensively sound throughout. Josh Draper (13 disposals, five tackles) split his time between playing as a third tall in defence and pinch-hitting in the ruck, while also showing his value with strong tackle pressure.
The emergence of Riddle
Now in his second season with Fremantle, developing young ruck Aiden Riddle has taken a significant step forward in his game at WAFL level. The 20-year-old has assumed the number one ruck duties for the Thunder in recent weeks and at the weekend elevated his game while being tested against WAFL veteran Scott Jones. Riddle competed strongly in the centre bounce work, recording 32 hit-outs and 12 disposals for the game. He was tested around the ground at stoppages by Jones who used his size and strength to his advantage, but Riddle worked relentlessly, never conceding, and at centre bounces, was able to showcase dominant displays of his craft.
