Fremantle running defender Jordan Clark has hailed Matthew Johnson’s role on dual Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale in the win over the Lions.
Speaking following the 25-point win at the Gabba, Clark said Johnson’s development has been one he has enjoyed watching.
“I couldn't speak higher of Johnno’s progression in the last 12 to 24 months, and I think it's only scratching the surface,” Clark said.
“I think we’ve got a really special player on our hands.”
Johnson gathered 20 disposals of his own to go with six clearances and a goal, while also restricting Neale to 21 disposals - nine below his season average per game.
“He's just so blessed that he's got the ability to do both for us. He can play a role, but he also can be so damaging at the same time,” Clark said.
“You know, roles like that internally, we celebrate them so much.”
Wrapping things up, Clark said that despite the different look ahead as the team now faces North Melbourne in an ‘away’ game at Hands Oval in Bunbury, the team would treat it no differently to other games.
“Like I said, the ability of our group is so flexible with the tasks that get thrown at us,” Clark said.
“It will probably be no different. We'll get home, recover, train as we do, and prepare to play North.
"We're going really well, it's nothing more than that at the moment. It's just another game.”
