Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir said the 100-point second-half blitz was a credit to the group sticking to their processes and roles.
Speaking following the win over the Swans, Longmuir said despite kicking just 11 behinds to half time, he was confident the players sticking to process would turn the tide.
“What I think we’ve got better at is that when we’ve got control of the game, we stick to the plan. We don’t get ahead of ourselves. We don’t prioritise the wrong things, which I think we’ve maybe done in the past," Longmuir said.
“The boys go, ‘We’ve got momentum, let’s keep imposing ourselves the right way,’ and I think that’s been a big difference and allowed us to be really dominant in games.
“It all starts in the contest.
“In the second half, we took the ball forward from stoppage and put their backs under a lot of pressure.
“We’re able to lean in and stay focused on what’s got us there, rather than losing focus and starting to focus on the outcomes and getting a lick of the ice cream.”
Speaking on the response performance coming off a five-day break, Longmuir said a quick turnaround was a benefit to his side, as they reviewed and moved on from the GWS loss and then turned their attention to Swans preparation.
“It’s a good time for a five-day break after last week’s performance,” Longmuir said.
“Like I said to the players, we as a Club, as a team, we owned the performance last week.
“They (the players) didn’t shy away from it in review and just wanted to make amends, and I thought we trained well, met well and then, like I said, we went out and played with the right mindset.
“Really, really proud of the way they bounced back.”
The win over the Swans puts an eight-point gap between Freo and the Swans on the ladder.
The Club will now travel to Adelaide to play Port on Saturday 18 July in Round 19.
