Holly Egan will play her first game for Walyalup after 13 months on the sidelines rehabilitating an ACL injury.

The defender missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a serious knee injury in a pre-season practice match.

Egan, selected with pick No.24 in the 2024 National Draft, has been added to the squad for Sunday’s second home game of the season.

The 20-year old will replace Ash Brazill in the backline after the veteran entered concussion protocols following last weekend’s win over Collingwood.

“Yeah, she’s (Brazill) an important player, she’s had a great start but we’re in a pretty good position to bring players in if we need to that have worked really hard at their craft,” coach Lisa Webb said.

Georgie Brisbane and Noa McNaughton have also been included in the squad of 24 to take on the Blues.

“They (Carlton) play a different style of football (to Collingwood) altogether, they’ve got a lot of score sources. They’re a really strong team but so are we. I think we challenge them in a way that will really set us up going into this season,” Webb said.

Walyalup will wear an indigenous guernsey inspired by Board member Colleen Haywood, with artwork from Kevin Bynder.

“Aunty Colleen’s story is on this one, she’s got her tribal totem on the front which is super important. Indigenous Round for us is always really special and a wonderful chance for us to be able to celebrate the longest continuing culture in Australia and the world,” captain Ange Stannett said.

Walyalup are determined to celebrate their new home ground Cockburn ARC Oval after a disappointing loss in the season-opener.

“Certainly, to win 4 points out of this game at our home ground is something that we want to be able to do, but we go into every single week wanting to get that win,” Stannett said.

Sunday’s clash will commence at 3.05pm WST at Cockburn ARC Oval and will be broadcast live on Fox and 7mate from 3.00pm WST, as well as streamed live on Kayo.
