Fremantle forward Matt Taberner has found it easy to adapt to a new-look forward line following Friday’s intraclub practice match at Victor George Kailis Oval.

Taberner credited both the skills and football knowledge of his new teammates Jesse Hogan and Rory Lobb, who signed for Fremantle during the 2018 NAB AFL Trade Period.

“They’ve played plenty of footy at other clubs, so they're very easy to play with. They’ve got good footy brains,” Taberner said.

“I thought there were some very good signs, particularly early in the game.

“Jesse was on limited minutes, playing the first three quarters, but when he was out there he was very easy to work with.

“He also played a little bit of midfield and that’s a credit to his abilities.”

Taberner kicked three goals while Hogan had two for the day, but the numbers could have easily been reversed if it wasn’t for some generosity on Hogan’s part.

Hogan and Taberner found themselves both open near the goal square during the third quarter and Hogan decided to hand off to Taberner instead of taking the easy goal himself.

Taberner said the pair shared a laugh about the goal.

“He said he wouldn’t have given that to me if it was round one,” Taberner said.

“That said, I think if we can get a lot of sharing and get each other involved up in the forward line, it will make a lot of difference.”
