Scans on Monday afternoon have confirmed that Fremantle’s debutant Brianna Moyes ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.

Moyes came from the ground early in the first quarter of Saturday’s win against Collingwood and took no further part in the game.

AFLW high performance manager Kate Starre said it was tough to see any player suffer an injury, particularly a season ending one.

“Brianna has worked so hard to get to the point where she could make her debut, so for her to be injured in the first quarter was obviously devastating to see,” Starre said.

“She will undergo surgery and following that we will work closely with her on a rehab program to get her back on her feet.

“The whole club is behind her.”
