Fremantle superstar Nat Fyfe has declared Fremantle will be a more high-scoring side this year, with the captain stating that Ross Lyon has evolved as a coach, theage.com.au reported.

Fyfe is confident that his club has done more than just add to their list in the past three season and has predicted a tactically different Fremantle in 2019.

“I think that style of game plan with Ross – we’ve already evolved away from that,” Fyfe told theage.com.au.

“Our last couple of years we’ve been thin on the ground with availability and quality players but naturally we are playing and structuring up to score more like every team is, and the new rules with the six-six-six mean that you have to be focusing on kicking a high score.

“I think Ross has evolved as a coach and I’m excited what we can produce this year.”

Fyfe said that the club’s new additions would help bring the best out of everyone on the list.

“Our team looks different, we’ve got Reece Conca and Travis Colyer who give us midfield depth where we’ve lost [Lachie] Neale,” Fyfe continued.

“We bring in Hogan and Lobb to support Matt Tabener and Cam McCarthy, we’ve got genuine firepower now and a risk strategy if one of them go down so we’ve structured up differently, our gameplan looks different.

“I'm an eternal optimist so I’m always excited this time of the year but I think if we can get all the cogs working together then our best footy will be if not this year then next year or the year after.

“If you’re a member or fan and you’re questioning whether you should be going to the game on the weekend, that comment alone should be enough to entice you along.”

Fyfe was speaking to The Age at the launch of the new Ultraboost 19 shoe for Adidas, where Fyfe is an ambassador.

The skipper said while football plays a major part in his life, he looks to have balance in his life outside of the game.

“Balanced humans make better football players, better workers and better parents,” Fyfe said.

“My parents have always been pretty good role models of being more than just the one thing and I watched the best players in the game when I came into it; [Matthew] Pavlich, [Luke] McPharlin, they were doing lots of things outside of footy.

“So when the train derailed in a football sense, you could still keep going as a human and get yourself back as soon as possible.”
