Fremantle’s Dana Hooker has finished tied for second in the NAB AFL Women’s Best and Fairest award, announced on Tuesday night in Melbourne.

The midfielder polled nine votes, finishing five votes behind winner Emma Kearney of the Western Bulldogs and alongside Collingwood’s Chloe Molloy and GWS Giant Courtney Gum.

Hooker polled votes in four of the seven rounds, including earning the maximum three votes in Fremantle’s round two win against Collingwood at Optus Stadium and in the wet against Brisbane in round four.

With four votes, Hayley Miller earned the second most votes for Fremantle while captain Kara Donnellan (2) Lara Filocamo (1) and Emily McGuire (1) also polled on the night.

It was a successful evening for Hooker, who also earned All Australian selection alongside Fremantle defender Ebony Antonio.

Hooker’s high finish confirms her status as favourite to go back-to-back at the Fremantle Fairest and Best award, which is awarded at Friday 6 April at Crown Ballroom.

Tickets to Fremantle’s Fairest and Best award are on sale now.
