Fremantle’s midfielders helped Peel Thunder continue its march towards the WAFL finals with a thrilling victory over Swan Districts at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Sunday.

Freo youngster Brady Grey dominated in the midfield, finishing with 33 disposals, six tackles and a goal to help the Thunder seal the four points.

Connor Blakely and Ed Langdon were also influential, gathering 24 touches apiece, while defender Tendai Mzungu racked up 23 disposals and laid five tackles.

A crucial last-quarter goal from Peel captain Brendon Jones helped inspire the Thunder to the 17.9 (111) to 15.10 (100) victory.

Zac DawsonLachie Weller and Zac Clarke all put in strong performances after travelling to Melbourne with the senior side as emergencies.

Clarke kicked two goals and dominated the ruck with 36 hit-outs, while Weller gathered 21 disposals and Dawson was again solid in defence after recovering from a thumb injury.

Dawson said he was “ready to go” for Fremantle.

“It’s been a long year in rehab,” he said.

“In comparison to last week I thought I had a big improvement.

“I’m not having any lingering concerns.

"My thumb was a little bit sore last week post-surgery, but this week I felt 100 percent.”

Peel has a bye this weekend, before taking on South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Saturday 8 August.
