Dockers' hope fades for McCarthy deal

The West Australian

West Australian key forward Cam McCarthy has all but given up hope of being traded home to Fremantle during the final few hours of the player exchange period, according to his manager Colin Young.

McCarthy has indicated a strong desire to return to WA, nominating the Dockers as his preferred club, but Greater Western Sydney have shown no interest in letting him leave.

The 20-year-old is contracted to the Giants for the next two years.

HOMESICK Greater Western Sydney forward Cam McCarthy's hopes of getting to Fremantle have been dashed, with his management admitting a trade in 2015 would not happen.

The 20 year-old – who is contacted until the end of 2017 – told the Giants he wanted out of Sydney for personal reasons, but the club has stood firm.

Speaking on NAB Trade Radio on Thursday morning, McCarthy's manager Colin Young conceded that despite plenty of effort from the Dockers, his client looks certain to remain at GWS.
