Fremantle are set to unleash at least two members of their 2019 draft class in the Marsh Community Series, with senior coach Justin Longmuir confirming Caleb Serong and Michael Frederick will play against Carlton on Saturday.

Both Frederick and top-10 pick Serong impressed in last Friday’s intraclub game and Freo fans will get the chance to see them in action down in Mandurah at David Grays Arena.

“Caleb will get his opportunity this weekend against Carlton,” Longmuir said on 6PR’s Sportsday program.

“He was fantastic in our intraclub last week around the clearances so he’ll get his opportunity this weekend.

“(He’s) had a real impact on our footy club and trained really well, as has Michael Frederick, so I’m excited to give him a crack this weekend against Carlton as well.”

Longmuir was hopeful that Serong’s fellow top-10 selection Hayden Young would play in the second Marsh Series game against West Coast on 7 March at HBF Arena.

“Just with (Young’s) load management…he’s out of action for just a couple of weeks so we can get some work into him,”Longmuir said.

“He won’t be available this weekend but we’ll look to get him going in the second Marsh Series game.”

Longmuir added that he was pleased to see Liam Henry training with the main group on Monday as he builds his fitness after recovering from a dislocated knee cap.

“Liam’s on the return to training programs,” Longmuir said.

“He will start building his training over the next couple of weeks.

“He did train earlier in the week and he’s definitely got some skills, so he hasn’t lost that over the pre-season.

“We’re pretty excited to get him back into training and build his game minutes up.”
