One of the most promising signs in the first weeks of competitive action in the pre-season has been the form of Hayden Crozier.

The spring-heeled Victorian made a strong start to his AFL career in the middle of 2012, but glandular fever cut short his season after just three games.

Crozier had seven disposals and kicked a goal in Freo’s opening NAB Cup triangular series against Geelong and West Coast.

The 19-year-old was mentioned by senior coach Ross Lyon as one of the most impressive performers in last Saturday’s trial match against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium where he booted two goals.

Crozier still has a slight frame, but he more than makes up for it with his speed and footy smarts and looks primed to get his opportunity in 2013.
