One player the Freo tagger won’t have to worry about is the suspended Steve Johnson, who Crowley has played against in the past.
“I’ve played on Paul Chapman a couple of times when he’s pushed up in the midfield and back in the day I used to play on Gary Ablett,” Crowley said.
He had a few words to say about his possible match-ups on Saturday night:
Joel SelwoodObviously the captain of their club and a club that has been really successfully for a long time. It says a lot about a guy that can come into a system and organisation like that and become a captain at such a young age. If we could tell our young players to follow the way anybody plays, he’d probably be the one.
James KellyI played with him at under-18 level. He’s always been hard at it. He’s a great tackler, a good team man and just a really good player.
Paul Chapman Once again he’s quite hard, which seems to be a common thread here. He’s a good runner and he can push forward and kick goals. He’s one of my harder opponents.
Jimmy Bartel He’s a big game player.
“All these guys are great players, and I’ve played against a lot of them over the years. I’m hoping we’ve got to a point where we respect them and don’t fear them anymore. We’ll be out there to win it on Saturday,” Crowley said.
