EXCITING Fremantle recruits Stephen Hill and Nic Suban are under serious consideration for Sunday's clash with the Western Bulldogs after being named on an extended seven-man bench for the Subiaco Oval clash.

However, after playing every pre-season game and being elevated off the rookie list last week, Greg Broughton was left out of the side.

Football operations manager Chris Bond said the team will be finalised on Friday, but both Hill and Suban were in line to debut after impressive pre-seasons.

"They're obviously in consideration. We won't finalise the team until tomorrow – we've got a training session tonight to get through and then another meeting tomorrow," Bond told fremantlefc.com.au on Thursday afternoon.

"At this stage, seven on the bench allows you to put those young players there.

"They're just two of a group of 25 at the moment, so we'll wait and see how everyone gets through training."

Bond said a decision to play Hill would not depend on who the week's opponent was; rather the 18-year-old's form and fitness at the time.

He said Broughton was unlucky to be left out after an impressive pre-season.

"At the moment we've certainly been pleased with the games he's played over the pre-season for us. He was probably unlucky not to be in our squad," Bond said.

"But hopefully he's not far away at this stage."

Chris Tarrant was named at centre half-forward while Antoni Grover will resume his role in the backline after being trailed forward through the pre-season.

With Ryan Murphy named at full-forward and Luke McPharlin always capable of pushing into attack it leaves Fremantle with a number of tall marking options.

However, Bond said the pre-season experiment that saw Tarrant in defence and Grover pushing forward was unlikely to continue on Sunday.

"It's not going to change much from last year. I think you'll find there won't be too many different scenarios thrown around," he said.

"There's been experimental stuff during the pre-season, but we're not expecting things to change too much.

"I think our forward line set up, like every one else's, will evolve through the game. But I don't think there'll be too many tricks throughout."

Both Kepler Bradley and Daniel Gilmore were named on the seven-man bench and Bond said there was room for both of them in the side as support for ruckman Aaron Sandilands.

He added the chance to play a top four side – particularly given the inclusion of Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney and star forward Robert Murphy – was a great opportunity for the side in round one.
